HEALTH & WELLNESS

LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

We provide health and wellness development through access to medical, dental and mental health services. We assist clients in obtaining healthcare and connect them with the needed resources to make scheduled appointments. Our self-care Instruction includes pregnancy prevention, stress reduction techniques, yoga, nutritional support, and support groups.

Using curriculum taken from the SAMHSA Evidence-Based Practices Resource Center, we are committed to taking the necessary steps to improve the  health of transition-aged foster youth by incorporating the 126 Wellness Worksheets. This curriculum is designed to help students become more involved in their own wellness and better prepared to implement behavior change programs. They include the following types of activities:

 

● Assessment tools that help students learn more about their wellness-related attitudes and behaviors.

● Internet activities that guide the students in finding and using wellness-related information on the Web.

● Knowledge-based reviews that increase students’ comprehension of key concepts
